Phong Nha is one of Vietnam's overlooked gems. This tiny, fun, backpacker village is tucked away amidst Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. Don't look for much to do in the village itself, the place to be is the nearby caves.

1. Phong Nha Discovery Cave Tour
Wow, what a tour! Seven kilometers to the turnaround point completely underground. One of the coolest things I've ever done. Like walking around on another planet.
2. Phong Nha Coco House
Such a great and affordable Airbnb homestay. Situated on a picturesque river a short walk from Phong Nha village, the owners/operators couldn't have been better hosts. Great, simple, and affordable food prepared onsite as well.
